Michael Benwitt

Michael is the General Counsel at Ruane Cunniff.

Michael started his career as an associate at Davis Polk & Wardwell. He then spent 18 years at Ramius, later Cowen Investment Management, where he served as in-house counsel, as General Counsel, and most recently as Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel. He joined Ruane Cunniff in 2025.

Michael graduated from the University of Toronto with a BCom and from the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School with a JD.
