What’s the most interesting company you’ve ever researched or owned?
Etsy - the online marketplace. It provides meaning and livelihood for its sellers, and it offers a special retail experience for its buyers. The company has long had a unique culture, and when we first invested in it, new management had to make meaningful changes to the company while preserving the best elements of that culture.
What’s the most exciting part of your job?
Exhaustively debating the merits of a potential investment once we've conducted much of our research on it. I was a competitive debater for seven years, and this part of the investment process has always felt like a fun and natural extension of that.
What do you enjoy outside of work?
Discovering new music from practically any genre and anywhere in the world.
