Michael Gacek
Michael is a member of the Ruane Cunniff Trading team that is responsible for executing all trades across our various strategies.
Michael began his career at SS&C Technologies as a quantitative risk analyst, where he analyzed and modeled market risk for hedge fund clients. In 2013, he transitioned to a portfolio management role at Mellon Capital, where he managed the day-to-day portfolio responsibilities for their global systematic equity strategies. For the six years prior to joining Ruane Cunniff, he was a member of the portfolio management and trading teams at PIMCO, specializing in global equities and derivatives. Michael joined Ruane Cunniff in 2021.
Michael graduated from Central Connecticut State University, Magna Cum Laude, with a BS in Finance and graduated from the Yale University School of Management with an MBA in Asset Management. Michael is a CFA charterholder and a CAIA charterholder.

What’s the most exciting part of your job?
As a trader, we have a pulse on a market that is always changing. It's a field you can never master so having to constantly learn and adapt is intellectually stimulating.
